Double Standards?

Should male and female criminals be treated differently? Should one have a lighter punishment than the other even if it's thesame crime?

Bernice,

I really feel that women who commit crimes should have to pay for them, just as men do. Aside from special needs that women have, I don't feel they should have extra priveleges that men do not get. In fact, if I had my druthers, prisons would be stricter than they are. No cable, no weight rooms, no free rides, etc.. Perhaps some people would be slightly more reluctant to return once their sentence is up.

While I can have some compassion in sensitive areas (ie: parents who kill their child's abusers, and similar scenarios), I think our prisons are too much like dude ranches in many instances. The criminals have it much easier than their victims often do.

I know, I am a true 'hard nose' when it come to punishment. It's like sending a child to their room as punishment, where they have all the comforts and entertainment arenas at their disposal. TV, Stereo, computer, and phones in their rooms is not exactly punishing them in my opinion; and I feel the same way about the incarceration of criminals, whether they be male or female.
